My So-Called Friend is a power-pop foursome hailing from Boston, Massachusetts. The band was born in the summer of 2005 when Erik Carleton (vocals, guitar) and Andrew Sgro (guitar, vocals) decided to abandon their old projects and team up to write a record that blended both of their loves: song craft and power pop. They quickly found a rhythm section in Dave Trombley (bass) and Erik's brother, Tim (drummer). After sending a couple of demo tracks and teaming up with Fall Out Boy/American Hi-Fi producer Scott Riebling, the band embarked on their debut recording project. On October 20th, 2006, over a year of studio sessions later, the record was released.
My So-Called Friend is once again making Boston a hub for powerpop with their focus on songwriting. With a love for hooks like the Cars and the rock sensibility of Cheap Trick, Weezer, and Fall Out Boy, MSCF and their debut is ready for all audiences.
